Freestanding posts have one fatal flaw: they move. A cat pulls down hard, the base shifts, and after a few wobbles they decide the sofa is more reliable.

Wall mounting removes that completely. The post cannot tip or slide, so your cat can put full weight into a proper vertical stretch, which is what they're actually after.

What you get, and why it matters

✓

Wall mounted: cannot tip or wobble, which is why cats commit to it over freestanding posts.

✓

Thicker column: withstands full-force scratching without flexing.

✓

Vertical stretch: lets your cat extend fully, which is what they need from a scratcher.

✓

Zero floor space: workable in a small apartment where a cat tree isn't.

A post that doesn't move is a post your cat trusts. That's the whole reason wall mounting wins.

Common questions, answered

Is it hard to fit?

It mounts to the wall. Use fixings suited to your wall type and make sure it's fully secure before letting your cat use it.

What height should I fit it at?

High enough that your cat can stretch fully upward, which is the point of a vertical scratcher.

Why thicker?

A thicker column takes more force without flexing, so it survives a determined cat.

Any maintenance tips?

Check the fixings periodically, especially with a heavy or enthusiastic cat.
